Astrology says that a clock that is not working should not be kept in the house during Navratri.

Navratri is going to begin from October 15, in the Ashwin month according to the Hindu calendar. Before the start of Navratri, know about the things which are to be discarded from home, to make the goddess happy during these auspicious days. Nine forms of goddess Durga are worshipped during these nine days of the festival. Pandit Kalki Ram, an astrologer from Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), talks about the things that should be removed before the start of Navratri. According to him, these objects need to be taken out, or else poverty will come knocking at your doorstep.

1) Any broken idol of a god should not be kept in the house. Before the onset of Navratri, you should put these idols in holy rivers.

2) Old shoes or slippers should be immediately removed from the house before the start of the festival. As per beliefs, keeping those may bring negative energies to the house.

3) Consuming food like garlic, onion and fish during Navratri should be avoided. Do not bring such food into the house for the next 9 days of celebration. Only sattvic foods should be consumed during those days, which are considered pure and healthy.

4) Astrology says that a clock that is not working should not be kept in the house during Navratri. Keeping this clock is considered inauspicious, and may bring problems in life, as per beliefs.

Navratri is one of the most awaited and celebrated festivals in the country. The 9 days of the festival are dedicated to worshipping different forms of Goddess Durga. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the festival. On the first three days, Goddess Durga is worshipped. From day 4 to 6, Goddess Laxmi is worshipped. On the last three days, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped. It is a festival, which is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm around the country.
