States Allege Deceptive Uber One Practices

On Monday, nearly two dozen states, plus the District of Columbia, filed an amended complaint in the FTC’s lawsuit against Uber. According to the lawsuit, Uber is accused of several deceptive practices related to its Uber One subscription service.

Key Allegations in the Lawsuit

The lawsuit claims Uber charged consumers for the subscription without their consent, billed them before the end of a free trial, and shared misleading claims about potential savings.

Subscribers were also allegedly forced through an excessively difficult cancellation process, which could require tapping through up to 23 screens and taking 32 actions.

  • States joining the lawsuit include: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, and others.
